family garden, Ratingen

The almost 2000 square meter large property near the Lintorf forest lake confronted us with great challenges. Various natural sources and problematic soil conditions required good planning.

The terrain was raised by up to 1.00 m in the rear and previously sloping part. Elaborate drainage systems now ensure good water drainage into the natural stream at the end of the site. As a second level, the rear garden was lowered by about 1.20 m. There you can find the family’s kitchen garden. The natural and family-friendly concept with many play possibilities is a paradise for children.

As central areas we find next to the pool the generous terrace in a combination of granite slabs and Bangkirai. The often problematic transitions between prefabricated houses and the terrace coverings were cleverly solved.

In addition to a heat pump, the pool has an automated measurement and control system. The mobile roof offers protection against dirt ingress. The planting is lush and colourful. Hydrangeas and roses dominate in summer.

A 3.00 m high hedge of evergreen Portuguese laurel has been planted as a screen. In the rear area the planting of different evergreen large shrubs alternates with red-leaved trees. Wild, colourful and family-friendly – a garden for all senses.
